St George Village Botanical Garden

St. George Village Botanical Garden of St. Croix is located on a sixteen acre site just off the Queen Mary Highway. The botanical collections, including over 1500 native and exotic species and varieties, are established in and around the restored buildings and stabilized ruins of a 19th century Danish sugar cane plantation and partially overlap an Amerindian settlement which dates back almost 2,000 years.
St. George offers island visitors and residents a unique blend of St. Croix's botanical, historical, and cultural heritage.  A stunning and relaxing environment to stroll through, a beautiful gift shop and restaurant await also.

Whim Estate Museum

History comes alive as you walk among the original early 18th century plantation buildings at Estate Whim Museum.

With its slave quarters, Great House, mill and factory complex, Whim is the only sugar plantation museum in the Virgin Islands.  Each year, thousands visit the 12-acre site, where the restored 18th century buildings stand as a testament to the skills and labor of enslaved Africans and the hopes and dreams of Europeans seeking wealth in the "sugar islands" of the Caribbean.

The museum continues to actively collect and conserve artifacts pertinent to St. Croix's colonial and modern history. The stately Great House welcomes you with gracious guides waiting to tell you the stories of the house and plantation life. The fully restored windmill and sugar factory ruins are open for you to explore. You can see sugar cane growing nearby in one of the plantation gardens. The grounds are graced with tropical flowers, plants and trees.

Ongoing research unlocks the secrets of the plantation era of St. Croix and all its many ramifications. A rare book library and archives repository has been established on the property that facilitates the work of the Society and is open to the public for scholarly research.

The Museum Store, located on the property, and the equally significant 'Lawaetz Museum' is located only three miles away.  Directions are available from the Whim Estate.
