AeroMD ADDS CITATION BRAVO TO CARIBBEAN-BASED FLEET, STRATEGIC AVIATION SUPPORT BY BOHLKE INTERNATIONAL AIRWAYS
Christiansted, St. Croix, (May 25, 2017) – Today U.S. Virgin Islands-based AeroMD officially put a Cessna Citation Bravo jet into service, as its primary and dedicated medevac aircraft. The upgraded plane is a prime addition to the AeroMD fleet, in conjunction with aviation partner Bohlke International Airways. The new plane will offer AeroMD members in need of medical airlift, the ability to arrive faster to their medical facility destination. It also opens options to travel to more hospitals and specialty centers at greater distances without a refueling stop.
AeroMD President and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Brendan Anzalone said, “We are pleased to introduce the Citation Bravo into our fleet. We strive to continually improve the air ambulance service we offer. This aircraft has state-of-the art medical equipment built-in that is essential for successful medevac missions. In sum, this new plane goes faster and further.”
The Cessna Citation Bravo jet offers a range of up to 1,587 nautical miles; has a top cruising speed of 460 miles per hour; and a maximum operating altitude of 45,000 feet. It only requires a runway of 5,000 feet for take-off or landing, which makes it ideal for the limited runways at airports in the Caribbean. The plane’s interior is 278 cubic feet, typically configured for nine passengers and two crew. Configured as a medevac aircraft, it is spacious for the patient, their travel companion and the AeroMD medical team on-board.
Christiansted, St. Croix, (March 20, 2017) – The 145 repair station, Tradewinds Flight Center, LLC, CRS #: 6TDR745C dba as Bohlke International Airways (Bohlke) Maintenance, was recently awarded a certificate from The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to conduct pitot static transponder checks. Every aircraft flying in Class C airspace and above is required to obtain said checks once every 24 months. This capability is a first for Bohlke, as having a part 145 repair station (which they established in October 2016), is a requirement to conduct transponder checks. The FAA certificate includes rating for limited airframe; engine; radio; and instruments.
“Pitot static transponder checks are a great way for clients to learn about the heavy maintenance we are capable of providing,” said Bohlke International Airways Director of Operations, Sam Black.
The repair station boasts a comprehensive list of aircraft on which they can now perform transponder checks. Additionally, with advance notice, it is possible to add nearly any type of aircraft to the repair station’s FAA-approved list. The checks will be available year-round, less one month each year for equipment to be calibrated off-island (which will take place off-season).
“We are pleased to add transponder checks to our list of maintenance capabilities,” said Bohlke Director of Maintenance, Matthew Jones. “We are working toward our RVSM certification as well, which will open our ability to check any N-registered aircraft.”
