Bohlke FBO Grand Opening Celebration
Bohlke’a FBO Grand Opening Celebration was held in collaboration with the St. Croix Chamber of Commerce on June 1, 2023. The Business After Hours event celebrated our 64-year history on St. Croix and the opening of our brand new FBO facility earlier this year. We honored our Caribbean Roots with entertainment from the Ten Sleepless Knights, as well as traditional Crucian cuisine from Chef Skerrette of Rowdy Joe’s, Gary’s Bakery, and Rhona’s Delight.
Supporting the VI Tuskegee Airmen
As part of the celebration, Billy Bohlke announced that the company will be donating $10 for each person in attendance to the Virgin Islands Chapter Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (VICTAI) Youth Aviation Club (VYAC). Each summer, the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (TAI) and the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) conduct one and two week, in-residence Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academies that feature STEM components, introduction to aerospace and aeronautical education, flight training, and character development programs in various states for youths ages 12 – 18 from across the nation. The VICTAI VYAC will use the donated funds to send St. Croix students to various stateside locations for this program.
VICTAI has a successful history since beginning in 2012, with former members who have: acquired their pilot’s license; graduated from the Air Force and Naval Academies; graduated from aviation-related colleges/universities; completed aerospace engineering degrees; been employed as Certified Flight Instructors (CFI); been employed as jet aircraft private pilots; been serving as a military pilot; and have been accepted as pilots for commercial airlines.
